Accidentally...

So, we accidentally started potty training at our house. Yeah, you read that right. It was a total accident and I'm not sure it will last, but at least we got started. Trust me, I had absolutely NO intention of starting potty training until next summer. I figured I would have a 2 year old, it would be hot outside, he would be outside a lot, thus it would be easy. That was my plan.

But then I bought a potty chair. I didn't buy it to use it, but I found it on clearance at Target and what kind of mom would I be if I passed up a good deal? How was I to know that Little Man would LOVE the potty chair and LOVE sitting on it?

So, until Sunday night, he hadn't done anything besides just use it as a seat. He would sit on it sometimes when we were both in the bathroom, but nothing else. So, Sunday night he was about to get in the bath. I asked if he wanted to go peepee in the potty and he said yes. So, we tried. Nothing happened. He took his 5-hour bath...okay not really 5 hours, but that boy loves the bath and it's so hard to get him out of it! Once I got him out, I asked if he wanted to try to go peepee in the potty again, and he said yes.

Okay, let me just stop right here and say that when I am asking him if he wants to go, I was not in any way planning on him actually going. I was thinking he would sit on it for a second then race off naked through the house, as is usually the case after bath time.

I sat him back on the potty and he went peepee!!
We yelled for Daddy and had a potty celebration that included 3 M&Ms and lots of dancing and singing in the bathroom.

Monday, I didn't even try. :(

But, Tuesday, I asked him again, once again not planning on anything. But he said yes, and he peepeed in the potty. An hour later, I asked again and he said yes, and he peepeed again! Thirty minutes later, I went in to use the restroom and he followed. He sat down on his potty, so I took his diaper off and he went in his potty again!! He went 1 more time at home yesterday, then a couple times while we were out at my parent's house.

So far this morning, we have tried once but were unsuccessful.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I know Little Man is only 19 months old. I know most boys don't potty train until they are at least 2. But, at least he went in the potty 4 times!

I guess technically, we may or may not have accidentally started potty training! :)
