They Grow Up Too Fast...

We had our two week appointment yesterday with Dr. Raley. It was our first time to actually meet him. First of all, I really like Dr. Raley. I think he will be a great doctor for Colt and I have full confidence in him after our first meeting. A few things I liked about him: He seemed really relaxed and comfortable, not uptight and stuffy, when he was in the room and conversing with us. He also was really good to give advice or pointers instead of telling us what to do. He was very personable and told us about his kids and seemed genuinely interested in us and Colt. And finally, he told us that Colt was a perfect baby. How much more can you ask for?

So the appointment went really, really well. The chunky monkey has gained weight like crazy and weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. I was shocked he had gotten that big!! She put him on the scale and I about fell over. I knew he had gained, but holy cow he almost gained two pounds in two weeks! I'm so glad we have such a healthy happy baby though. Dr. Raley recommended that we go ahead and start him on a schedule just so that he is accustomed to it when he is a little older. He also told us we can introduce the bottle if we want and I want to start pumping. I think we will do that, since I went and bought a breast pump yesterday. He also said that if we want, Colt could start sleeping in his crib in his own room. Whoa!!!! Not ready for that, and probably won't be for a few months. However, he was just letting us know that was an option if we wanted it.

Overall, it was a great appointment and we came out of there very happy. We go back May 10 for his two month appointment and he will have to get shots then. I think momma here is going to have a really hard time with that one...
