An Act of God

So, Tuesday morning, we were awakened at 5:17 a.m. by what sounded like a shotgun being fired next to our bed. To make a really long story shorter, our house had been struck by lightning. Totally scary and terrifying!! Right now, we have a list of about 30 things that are broken/damaged/ruined because of the strike, among them are our heater, granite fireplace, phones, internet (yes it is FINALLY back on now), and television out of our master bedroom.

I'll take the time to post pictures and go into more detail later (hopefully), but right now, I am thanking God that the most important thing, our family, is okay. If it had been during the day when lil man and I were playing in the living room, it could have been really bad. We found half dollar and larger pieces of granite from the fire place all over our living room and dining room. There is even granite embedded in our ceiling. Or, our house could have easily caught fire and burned to the ground. How scary is it to think that we were really, really close to that happening.

I know it's only been a couple days since it happened, but this whole thing has really made me realize that it is not the stuff that truly matters, it's the people that we love. At this point, I seriously have started looking at our stuff as STUFF and not as anything important. As long as my family is safe, NOTHING else matters!!
