Anyway, he has been taking a couple steps here and there on his own, but was always falling quickly. He can fly behind his walker toy, but was just doing a few on his own. On Wednesday, he took off and walked 10 steps across the living room. It threw me for a loop because I was not expecting it. Of course, he would not do it again for me or for Chase when he came home, but he had done it once, so I knew it was in him! I, of course, called everyone to report that he was really close to giving up crawling for good!
Wednesday afternoon, the weather was beautiful, so we went outside to practice our walking. We brought his car toy and he took off. He went back and forth across our driveway about 20 times!! Besides me forcing him to wear his sunglasses (which he hates) he had so much fun and laughed the whole time! I had to grab my camera because really, he's just so darn cute!!

Yesterday morning, he took off again and walked about 11 steps across the living room. Once again, I was the only one there to witness it, but he did it! Then, the rest of the day, we spent running around with Mindie and Claire to Hobby Lobby, Grandma Margie's house, and the Just Between Friends sale, so he didn't have the opportunity to try again. Last night, before Chase got home from work, Colt started pulling up and taking 4 or 5 steps on his own. He wasn't going specifically for anything and I was not coaxing him to do it, he just did it. I knew at that point that he was ready.
Once Chase got home and we had dinner, we were all playing in the living room floor. Colt took off. He walked all around the living room from the table to the couch, from his toy box to the recliner. He still fell a few times and would take off crawling, but soon he would pull himself up and start walking again.
Today we are out at my parent's house keeping Claire. After all my bragging, he didn't walk too much for my dad this morning, go figure! But, I'm sure he will be ready to show off for everyone before too long.
This is such a bitter-sweet thing for me! On one hand I am ready for him to be walking and growing, but on the other hand I am not. As much as I miss having a sweet, cuddly newborn, I am excited for the new, adventurous toddler that I now have on my hands! Wish me luck folks!!
PS-I DID get my video camera out last night, but our camera is an old one that still requires a tape, thus I can't put it on the computer. I charged my digital camera that will shoot video overnight, so hopefully I will have some video of him today to post!
