The Birthday Party

So, despite my best intentions a couple weeks ago, the blogging world got away from me again! I did really well blogging for a couple of days, but then reality hit!

The past couple weeks (or week and a half really) have been a whirlwind! The most important thing that has happened is that MY BABY TURNED ONE last Thursday!!!!

I wanted to do something really fun just for him on his birthday. We started out the morning with #1 pancakes and a candle (which he put out with his fingers) .

For lunch, we went to Taco Bueno so he could have his favorite pintos and cheese and a taco roll-up. From there, we had initially planned to go to the zoo, but because of the crazy Oklahoma weather, we had to change our plans. We headed out to the Campbell's house to play outside. Colten really enjoyed playing with Claire in his new power wheels (our birthday present to him) and his Cozy Coupe (Mindie and Trav's present to him).

That night, we went out to dinner with Mimi, Papa, Grandma, Papa Nelson, Mindie, Travis, Claire, and Bubba. We went to eat at Abuelo's. It was really yummy and Colt got to eat beans and rice, two of his favorite foods! We had chocolate cake for dessert, and he got to indulge in that as well!

After dinner, we went back to Mimi and Papa's house. My mom would die if she knew I was actually putting this story in print, but...Colten was REALLY hyper after all the chocolate cake. I was trying to get his diaper changed and his jammies on and he kept crawling away from me. Finally, I just let him go and crawl around naked. He crawled to the center of their living room floor, sat there and peed! It was HILARIOUS!!! Mimi started screaming and everyone else was laughing so hard that no one could do anything! Needless to say, he got a diaper on really quickly. However, it was a very comical end to a very happy birthday!!!

Then, last Saturday we had his birthday party. It was sock monkey themed and turned out adorable. At one point I think we counted about 45 people in our house. It was so wonderful that so many people came out to celebrate with us! We had yummy food and REALLY yummy cake! Colten liked his cake and loved all his gifts! We are going to have to buy a bigger house just to have room for everything!! Thank you so very much to everyone who was a part of his birthday!

I didn't take any pictures, despite my best intentions, but here are some pictures some other people snapped for me!
